does pepsi or coke help remove rust of fishing tackle without giving it any bad odour?
just wondering
im thinking of cleaning older hooks and lures that have rusted
wuld it be fine putting them in pepsi or coke for a day or 2 so that the rust could be removed?
has any1 tried this?
thanks!
Mythbusters tried it & found it didn't do anything for rust, but it did wonders in shining up the chrome on cars & bikes.
If you want a cheap way to clean light rust from metal, mix salt & white vinegar. Normally you would rub it over the metal's surface, but you'd probably hook yourself. I would just use a old toothbrush on the hook.
Is there some kind of tool made to insert and remove a tube from a bike tire?
Ive been using the old fashioned method(using some flathead screwdrivers and pulling the tire from the rim and tube) and Im wondering if there is a specific tool(s) to use to do this. I just got a new road bike and dont like the scratches the screwdrivers leave on the rim. Do they sell some kind of special tool for this at bike stores? Thanks.
Traditional tire levers, a.k.a. "tire irons" came in sets of 3, with a rounded business end, and a bent, hooked end for hooking onto a spoke. Newer ones are fibreglass or similar materials. I have an assortment of them for different tires. For very tight fitting tires, you need tire levers with thin ends, able to get underneath tight beads.
For less difficult tires, a single tire lever with a rounded, grooved end can be faster. I particularly like the "Quick Stick."
A similar unit, the Crank Brothers "Speed Lever" incorporates a telescoping extension that snaps onto the axle. This works very much like the power tools used in garages for mounting/dismounting automobile tires. This doesn't work too well on very tight tires, but on average tires, it is quite fast and easy to use.
Up until fifteen years ago, most gun holsters were traditionally made from leather. Since then, the holster industry has changed dramatically in the type of materials it uses to create its products. One of these newer materials, kydex, has a number of advantages and disadvantages that you should consider when buying a holster for your gun.
But first, what is kydex? Kydex is a synthetic thermoplastic material that currently dominates that gun holster market. From a material standpoint, its durability and other desirable characteristics make it hard to beat in this competitive market. Kydex is typically produced in sheets of varying thickness and color, which are then cut and formed. The sheets are non-porous and are easily molded into the desired shape by heating, forming, and cooling the material. In addition to gun holsters, other applications for this material include aircraft interiors, food processing equipment, electrical components, medical products, and store fixture components.
Today, nearly every style of gun holster (IWB, OWB, Tactical, and so on) is available in a kydex version. When formed as weapons holsters, kydex sheets have a number of advantages over leather:
1. They are waterproof. Over time, leather holsters can and will absorb moisture. This moisture can soak into the holster and affect the weapon finish, as well as produce a bad smell. Kydex is virtually waterproof, making it an excellent choice for use in humid or tropical climates. In addition, you can easily clean kydex holsters with a wet cloth.
2. They are scratch resistant. With a Rockwell R scale hardness of 90, a torn or damaged holster is a thing of the past.
3. They are easy to use. Kydex holds its shape, which makes for ease of re-holstering. Not only that, but holsters made from this material will not stretch or shrink under normal conditions.
4. They prevent finish wear. Gun finishes wear down over time from repeated holstering and re-holstering. A high-quality kydex holster significantly lessens the amount of friction caused by these actions, depending on the fit, quality, and make of the holster.
Along with these benefits, there is also one important drawback to kydex holsters: limited flexibility. Where leather is supple and conforms easily to the shape of the wearer's hip, kydex is a rigid thermoplastic that lacks this same flexibility.
what is the release mechanism in a kydex holster whats keeping the firearm in it?
I have a Blackhawk OWB holster and it has a flush button release on the side so your in safe positions with your trigger finger on the slide its nice but pretty obvious and where I live people are gun shy, I wanna buy a IWB kydex holster from side armor for CCW but I can't figure out how the holster retains the firearm I'm active so it can't fall out
The trigger guard area will snap around the gun and does a pretty fair job of retaining the gun. Some of these plastic holster will have a tension screw, but if you do not see it on the holster, then it's the trigger guard holding the gun.
Couple years ago I carried a Full Size H&K USP in a Kydex Paddle Holster when I was in plain clothes. My partner and I responded to an emergency call, I jumped into the passenger side and caught the butt of the gun on the door frame, There was a snapping sound and my gun wound up lying in the parking lot. The paddle broke, but the gun remained in the holster, retained by the trigger guard.
So, it is a simple but effective system. . ., paddle ain't worth a damn though.
The Best StreamLights for the Right Flashlight Jobs!
Flashlights are the most important investigative equipment especially in dark places and at night so that it is most essential to choose the right type of flashlights in the market. Companies like Streamlight and several others manufacture good product range of highly efficient flashlights for users to take advantage and ensure safety in all their activities. The choice of flashlights depends on the environmental need of illumination and one needs to think carefully of the parameters that govern these needs.
Salient Features of Flashlights
Batteries - whether conventional dry cells or rechargeable types are the heart of flashlights and their choice must be well made. Though these batteries are cheaper in the first instance their more frequent discharging and replacement could run your costs higher in the long run. The rechargeable battery types though more expensive to begin with can give longer life and more stable voltage, thereby ensuring safer operations for the flashlights.
Safety is of paramount importance in cell flashlights. It does not matter what type of batteries you are using but the proper care in design and usage ensures the safest operation.
Streamlight flashlights are also characterized by the light output and central focus light intensity. The light output in lumens determines the amount of light emitted by the bulb. The light intensity or central focus measured in candela units determines how bright the light is when reflected to a point focus. Both factors are important in specifying the streamlight flashlight's efficiency. Many factors govern the light beam properties and a complex relationship exists between several parameters. What remains important is that the streamlight flashlights are used by people who know that the performance will not let them down at the nick of the moment and the construction or spares are so designed that availability cannot ever be a problem.
Few Important Applications of Streamlight Flashlights
These robust flashlights are used in several applications like law enforcement, industrial uses, fire rescue operations, sporting industry, automotive usage, and military uses.
Several models are available for the law enforcement personnel and a large number of them consider these flashlights an indispensable commodity.
Fire fighting crew needs very stable and dependable flashlights for use in hazardous areas and these streamlight models help in making their jobs easier. The helmet flashlights, hand held models, swivel type headlights etc are just a few of the wide range available for our rescue teams.
The industrial sector is a vast user of flashlights in all types of plants and factories. Normal flashlights to penlights or helmet lights form the core of products meant for industrial applications. Equipment cleaning is a dark area process in many instances and it is imperative to use dependable flashlights that do not interfere with the operations but pave a way for illuminated cleaning actions.
Sports are another applications area that needs good flashlight assemblies. A variety of small, medium, large and sophisticated flashlights are available that cater to almost any sporting activity or event. The subtle light emitting flashlight designs for night target sports can be considered a special use where camouflage is an important aspect.
Apart from the conventional flashlights meant for general usage the streamlight flashlights are designed for probe oriented and interior lighting systems in the automotive trade.
The armed services especially the military discipline requires strategic or tactical lighting systems and special flashlights are developed for the many applications within the military. The robustness and ease of maneuvering is of prime concern that streamlight flashlights excel in.
What is the difference between the Streamlight Stinger and Polystinger flashlights?
What is the difference between the Streamlight Stinger and Polystinger flashlights? Particularly the DS versions?
There are actually two versions of the Stinger and Polystinger. The original versions use bulbs, and the newer versions use LEDs. There are four variations: Stinger LED, Stinger DS LED, PolyStinger LED, Polystinger DS LED. The DS stands for Dual-Switch. This means that there is both a switch on top of the flashlight and on the tail cap. The Stinger LED and PolyStinger LED just have a switch on the top of the light, not one of the tail cap. All of the Stinger series lights, whether they are LED or bulbs, use the same charger holders and cords, so you can reuse them between lights. These Stinger lights also use the same rechargeable battery stick. As far as the technical difference, here's some more detail:
The Polystinger lights are also made from a nylon polymer, and the Stinger and Stinger LED are made from aircraft aluminum. There is also a new series of lights that recently came out, which are the Stinger LED HP and the Stinger DS LED HP. These are even brighter than the Stinger LED and PolyStinger LED and are offered in both a single and dual switch.
What does the red, green, yellow light along a track mean, I know it is a signal for the engineers but forwhat
Now that they started a coummuter rail service in our area they had to install signals along the tracks where only freight trains would run before. It is one light that changes colors: yellow, red, green.
Green means the track is clear red means there's a train coming I'm not sure about yellow, maybe it means it's in the process of switching.

Is the AGM M4 Gas Blowback gun worth buying over an AEG for the same price?
I need help deciding whether or not the gun is worth buying over a regular aeg. I like the gbb for its realism but if i should go with an aeg how about an agm m4 non blowback?
I would stay away from AGMs M4 and M16 line. They have shotty internals and i've heard nothing but bad reviews of the guns. Now if your looking into upgrading the internals and spending 150$ more for it then go ahead, but if you want a good M4 blowback go with the G&G GR16 Blowback. It's 200$ off Evike.com
