It depends on what you want to do with it.
Go to a good camping shop and look at the range available, Choose one which has a good, wide waist/hip strap which will help take a lot of the weight off your shoulders.
The more padded the straps, the better.
I find large outer pockets very useful - mine has a outer pocket large enough for my 1 litre drinks bottle, and a pocket large enough for my waterproofs.
When you go to try them on, take the clothes you will be wearing when you use the rucksack to get a clear feel of what the rucksack is like.
I think mine is a berghaus, and I've never had any trouble with it.
Is it safe to sleep in a sleeping bag inside a car while it is freezing outside?
I have seen new sleeping bags which are rated 0 Fahrenheit. I have always been told to get out of a car when freezing because it gets colder inside than outside, but, what should i rather do if I am stuck in the cold and I have a sleeping bag in my car?
0'fahrenheit is pretty darn cold so i would think you would be ok unless you're in an area that is going to be way below freezing.
Bear in mind 0'F is around -17'C.....which is way below freezing
My advice is stay in the car and if you are still worried and want to sleep out in your car maybe try to invest in a survival bag......this will help to keep the heat in but will also keep in moisture as it is basically a thick plastic bag so you will be needing to air out your sleeping bag the next day...also keep your head covered (not inside the survival bag for obvious reasons....lol) wear a toque or even better a balaclava to keep your face warm as well......
Recon 4 Sleeping Bag Cold Test Wilderness Gear Review
In game fishing, hardly any game fish specie defeats the mainstays. Consisting of Tarpons, Wahoo, Marlins and Tunas, these all-time favorites are what made high sea big game fishing the most widely enjoyed sport.
For the freshwater game fishing, nothing beats the classic Bass Fishing. In such effect, bass fishing industry and other related industry have evolved to become multi-billion dollar commercial institutions. One prominent institution is the Annual Bass Master Classic Tournament which is involves several prominent anglers.
As prospects for game fishes expanded, salmon fishing became a next nominee. Equally tricky to bait, most especially when fishing during spawning season on salmon runs, these fishes are mostly coy in even nipping at the bait and the slightest provocation will make them dart away.
Among the most prevailing salmon game specie is the Silver salmon, also known as the Coho salmon.
The silver salmon is an anadromous fish, meaning their life cycle takes them on migration practices. As a young, they spend some time on the river where they are spawned. As they mature they start to head for the ocean where they will grow to an average size of 38 inches and an average weight of 10 pounds though they can grow up to 36 pounds in weight. Silver salmon are known to feed frenetically, gobbling up anything they can fit into their mouths and that's what made them among the fast growing salmon species.
In silver salmon fishing, the silver salmon is known for one famous reality, they fight back with their anglers reel for reel. A somersaulting 30 pound silver salmon can weaken any angler with lesser resolve and there have been so many occasions that tackles were wrenched free from anglers' hands or lines severed from the constant acrobatic displays. Another interesting reality about silver salmon fishing is the silver salmon's voracious feeding instinct, its reckless abandon on pursuing lures and baits.
Silver salmon fishing is sought because it is also a delectable treat, if nothing else appeals. The 'wild' silver salmon especially whose fat is considerably lesser than most salmon specie taste best. It is if truth be told a staple fare of several North American residents. The natural habitats are usually shallow water which allows anglers access to them directly from banks and small charter boats.
Are you interested in trying your luck with silver salmon fishing? Less confident anglers should maybe try trolling first. It is often rewarding, especially during salmon spawning seasons. But if you're up to par for a challenge, nothing beats landing a silver with a fly. Just be sure to get those cameras working when you are silver salmon fishing.

Horse Riding breeches and jodhpurs provide riders of every skill level the Close Contact with their horse that they need to ride safely and securely. In addition to being functional, horse riding breeches also create a stylish appearance that is crucial in the show ring. Riding horses is an athletic endeavor that deserves the highest quality riding apparel. The experience of riding can be made even better when the horse riding breeches worn are the correct cut and fit for your specific body type and riding style.
Casual riding, endurance riding, hunt seat, dressage: they all have different physical requirements and demands that result in the need for different styles of horse riding breeches. In addition to these issues, different body types, different weather, and other factors all combine to narrow down the best choice for your horse riding breeches and jodhpurs.
Brand Names Really Are Better
Sometimes shopping for discounts, seconds, and used equipment is fine, but not so with horses. Horses are big, heavy, and occasionally panicky animals. Riders can best protect themselves, and their horses, by wearing well-crafted, form-fitting horse riding breeches or jodhpurs and other riding apparel designed specifically for riding. This is not the place for baggy pants or raggedy shirts that can catch on something and cause a fall.
There are enough established, high quality manufacturers of elegant and fun riding breeches, show coats, ratcatchers, gloves, and other riding apparel to make shopping for equestrian apparel fun and rewarding. Three of the best-known names include The Tailored Sportsman, TuffRider, and Equine Couture. These fine businesses have withstood the test of time and demonstrated that they use only the finest materials and world-class craftsmanship, ensuring that every purchase is well worth the money.
What Is It About Waistbands?
The waistband on women's riding breeches can come with or without belt loops and most of them are made of stretchable material. They come in wide and regular widths. The width of the waistband is largely a matter of personal preference. So, too, is the height of the waistband. Waistband height is also a factor of riding style. Low-rise waistbands are ideal for endurance riders and hunters, providing an extra measure of flexibility and freedom of movement. On the other hand, the high-rise waistband looks far more sleek and elegant in the show ring, regardless of the class.
In Any Kind Of Weather
As anyone who has ever owned a horse knows, horses must be worked frequently and regularly, regardless of the weather. Luckily, there are now lined women's riding breeches to keep riders warm in winter and ultra-lightweight fabrics for summer riding. Most modern fabrics used in making high quality riding breeches and jodhpurs are made from cotton combined with stretchable Lycra or Spandex for form-fitting comfort and flexibility.
Moisture-wicking materials are useful year-round. Not only do they prevent chafing, they also keep the rider comfortable in any weather. Sweating from a tough training session in the summer heat is bad enough, but, in the middle of winter, it can lead to a bad case of pneumonia if the rider gets too chilled for too long. These high tech materials from The Tailored Sportsman and other fine retailers provide year-round comfort, style, and functionality for riders of every skill level.
Selecting Show Apparel
The appropriate show apparel will depend largely upon the style of riding. Dressage riders compete in entirely different equestrian apparel than pleasure riders. Riding apparel and equipment must be selected according to the sanctions set out by the show organizers. Once a rider knows specifically what those requirements are, they can go online and select the riding breeches, show coat, ratcatcher, gloves, and helmet they will need to look and feel their very best in the show ring. A new crop is always a nice touch.
Unlike generations past, riders today can enjoy the flexibility, style, and comfort provided by modern textiles. At the same time, riders are no longer limited to the classic colors of white, black, and beige. While not always appropriate for the show ring, the colors available in riding breeches extends all the way to sage, espresso, deep purple, charcoal, taupe, chocolate, and more!
The most important factor to consider when purchasing riding breeches is the ability to move freely, to maintain close contact with the horse, and to avoid injury. Of course, it's always nice to look your best, wherever the ride occurs!

If you are looking for an intelligent dog that will act as a guard dog, then the Australian Cattle Dog may be perfect for you!
Bred in the 19th century by early settlers, the Australian Cattle Dog is a mix of Collies imported from Scotland and Australian dingoes with a few other breeds thrown in for good measure. This dog, also known as the Blue Heeler, the Australian Heeler in the Queensland Heeler is one of the best herding breeds known and gets his name due to the fact that he nips at the heels to herd.
That being said, as a pet you may find your Australian Cattle Dog exhibiting herding behavior. This dog can be a one-man dog so to speak, and may nip at the heels of your friends when they come to visit trying to herd them. Proper training needs to be done in order to have a pet that does not chase off everyone you know.
The Australian Cattle Dog is one of the most intelligent breeds and along with this intelligence comes the need to be kept busy and useful. If you a lot of time in your hands and want to work with a dog for agility training this breed might be your perfect match. He can be easily trained to be an obedient dog but you must vary the training so that he doesn't get bored.
The Australian cattle dog is a medium-size dog about 17 to 20 inches and around 35 pounds. He is a powerful, compact dog and is very agile on his feet. Ears stand up straight and pointed at the top of his broad head. He has intelligent oval eyes that are dark in color. He has a short double coat that can be either red with speckles or blue with speckles. The blue variety is sometimes seen with blue, tan or black markings.
The Australian Cattle Dog does need a lot of exercise and will do well with a house that has a large fenced in yard. If he doesn't get enough exercise you will probably see behavioral problems. This breed is very loyal to his master but can be dominant of other dogs and suspicious of strangers. He will do well with children that he's been raised with since he was a puppy but might not be so good with new children introduced after he is an adult.
This breed is easy to grom and just needs brushing with the firm brush and a bath when needed. He's a moderate shedder, shedding twice a year. Health problems to watch out for include deafness and hip dysplasia.
Just like any other dog, the Australian Cattle Dog needs love and attention from his family. Early obedience training as a must and to keep the dog interested it is advised to have activities or jobs for him to perform. Agility and ring training are perfect activities for this dog. With good quality food and proper veterinary care this dog can live to be around 15 years of age.

will people judge my dog for wearing a muzzle?
My obedience instructor wants my miniature poodle mix to wear a muzzle b/c he has a nipping problem. She says he has to wear it out in public until he is trained out of this bad habit. Will people think I have a mean dog b/c he needs a muzzle? He is anything but mean! He is just very playful and nips a lot.
My westie is the same way, very playful which looks aggressive to those who don't know her. I got her a Halti headcollar to use when walking. It helped break her of her pulling habit and also was useful in closing her mouth when she nipped to teach her not to bite when playing. The Halti headcollar is not as scary looking as a full-on muzzle, and it has other good benefits with proper use.
Fishing reels are sometimes taken for granted and not many people take time to think about the Intricacies of fishing reel parts. They are the device that brings the fish in, and modern fishing reels are fairly complicated devices. The spinning reel is the most popular version used in fishing today, but it is not always the best choice for many types of fishing. You should never guess as to which reel will be the right choice for you while browsing the aisles are a fishing supply store. Understanding how a fishing reel works can help you determine which are the best options for your needs. Spinning reels and baitcast reels are different, and in either case, it is a good idea to chose the reel with the fewest parts and they have the lower chance of mechanical failure.
Reel bodies can be made of plastic, aluminum, steel, or graphic. Aluminum is tougher than graphite, but graphite is much lighter. It is a personal call whether the lower weight of graphite is worth it trade off in toughness, but it primarily depends on the type of fishing you do. Larger fish will require aluminum, while catching smaller fish allows you to get away with graphite and have less weight to deal with. Graphite is also great at resisting saltwater corrosion. When looking at a reel to buy you should be sure it feels solid and has no loose and rattling parts. There movement should be smooth and there should be no back play.
The reel size is important as well. Lighter lines call for smaller reels, and vise versa. In most cases ten pound test line is as tough as you need, so your reel should not exceed the diameter needed by ten pound test line. However, if you are into serious saltwater fishing you may need a bigger reel and line.
One of the most important fishing reel parts are the gears as these are what connect the crank to the spool. The ratio of the gears determines how many revolutions the spool makes when one revolution of the crank is made. And example would be a ratio or 4:1. This means that turning the crank once makes the spool turn four times. Having a lower ratio, such as 3:1 is advantageous for reeling in bigger fish as it provides more torque. The downside is that the process will be slower. For smaller fish a higher ratio can be used since less torque is needed. The upside is that you can reel the fish in faster.
Drag systems are what apply the pull on a hooked fish, but let the line out when the fish is fighting. This helps absorb the energy of the fish and prevent a broken line or dropped reel. The Ball Bearings in the reel help keep the action smooth, which aids in a very confident and consistent reeling motion.
Your fishing reel parts when assembled together are the mechanical components that helps you actually bring the fish in. If the reel is not up to the task, you will not catch the fish even though it took the bait. Do not skimp on your reel, but also do not buy a reel that in excessive to your needs as an oversized reel will make catching smaller fish more difficult.

What are some good reels and rods?
Hi. I'm planning to get a good quality all-rounder fishing rod and reel (looking at Shimano Compre 6'6). I mainly do light/med fishing, targeting bream, snapper, whiting, flatheads, threadfin salmon and jewfish (10kg). I have posted questions before and people have suggested the Pflueger Supreme 8030 and Shimano Symetre 2500. However, looking at the Supreme its freshwater (but 9 ball bearings) and the Symetre is good but the looks and only five Ball Bearing. Can anyone please suggest me some good reels (max $125/8lb to 10lb line) aside from these two. Thanks
Your question involves two very different types of tackle. I would buy an open face spinning reel with 6 or 7 ft rod medium heavy for smaller fish and a heavier Penn 109 type saltwater reel with a shorter stubby glass rod made for heavy fish for saltwater look around for good used equipment try craigslist on internet or garage sales. Match tackle to types of fishing it works better in real life. I like Penn 360 Slammer myself, its strong.
90 Second Free Spool with Boca's Orange Seal Ceramic Bearings
Before the advent of the C2, civilians were limited to acquiring the 34000 Series Air Taser which is bigger in size and less ergonomic in shape. Then, the M18 Taser became available in the market for civilians as well as the M26 Taser for law enforcement. Both models are bigger and resemble the shape of a Glock 17 semiautomatic 9mm pistol. These are too bulky to be carried concealed; although, they possess higher power ratings of 18 and 26 watts, respectively, compared to the Air Taser which only produces 7 watts.
The C2, however, is small enough to be carried concealed with the shape of a hand phaser from Star Trek: The Next Generation. It shoots 2 probes up to 15 feet; although, the ideal distance to your target should be between 5 to 7 feet. The longer the distance, the higher probability that you might miss a human target even though you are aiming at the center mass, the area of the body below the neck and above the hips. The reason for this is that the top needle from the cartridge shoots out at a straight trajectory while the other needle at the bottom ejects at a slightly lower angle, thereby hitting the target with the probes at a distance from each other. This causes the charge to be distributed through the body further. The cartridge itself, which is disposable after 1 firing, propels the probes with nitrogen, an inert gas. This is why the BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) does not classify Tasers as firearms.
Since the producers of the Taser does not disclose the power rating of the C2, I am guessing that its power output is between 7 to 12 watts, enough to approximately incapacitate a human being from 86% to 92% of the time. According to the Smith brothers, the founders of the Taser, the stopping power of the C2 is greater than a typical shot from a .38 or 9mm caliber handgun. This device has a less non-lethal dose of charge than the M18, M26, X26, and X29 Tasers since it produces less power. Nevertheless, the family of Tasers is non-lethal, or "less-than-lethal," type of gadgets as researched and proved by engineers who published their findings to IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) magazine about 6 to 9 months ago. Contrary to what "ambulance chaser" lawyers claim, the effects of Tasers alone cannot kill a person. What distinguishes Tasers from stun guns is that the former emits "T-waves" or a charge that has a similar frequency as a human body's nervous system. This effect overwhelms the nervous system, thereby paralyzing the subject for about 2 to 15 minutes. On the contrary, the charge from stun guns overwhelms muscle groups, rendering just a part of the body numb for less amount of time.
C2, as in all Taser models, has its limitations also. First, it is an electronic device which is prone to malfunction. Yet, I have yet to see a malfunctioning Taser. It if works the first time, it should reliably work every time. Second, the probes have to penetrate the skin to be effective. If a human target is wearing more than 2 inches of clothing or is wearing loose clothing, the needles might not contact the skin to work. That scenario happened last year in a booking area where my co-worker used an M26 against a combative female suspect with loose clothing to no effect; she just stood upright while being zapped. Third, you are limited in firepower since you can only install a disposable cartridge one at a time, which might limit your options if you are confronted by multiple opponents. But, you can use any Taser as a stun gun after the cartridge is spent.
Weighing the pros and cons of carrying a C2, it is better to have one than not. The Taser affords you distance between you and the perpetrator especially if he or she is armed. A stun gun would be of little or no use at all in that situation. Additionally, the paralyzing effect is instantaneous, unlike pepper spray which takes several seconds to work. If you cannot lawfully carry a firearm to protect yourself, the C2 is probably the next best thing as long as you have a backup weapon, such as a stun gun, pepper spray, or a knife, just in case it fails. A good rule of thumb dictates to never rely on any equipment to function every single time. For good measure, always have a contingency plan!

How is the safety trigger on a glock as safe as a traditional safety?
I have an airsoft glock, which is the same as a real steel glock except that it fires bbs. I don't understand how the safety trigger can really be as safe as a traditional safety. When I put my glock in my holster I don't feel as safe as when I put my USP in my holster.
The biggest safety on all firearms is you. Keep your finger off the trigger till your ready to shoot. There might not be any manual levers on the Glock but with the trigger system the only way your going to discharge the gun is by squeezing both of the triggers. The gun is going to be as safe as any other if bumped, dropped, etc.
I own a Glock and I still don't know if I like the system. It's OK for me. But I'm still a little worried when I let my girlfriend fire the gun. She's still new with firearms in general.
Wenzel tents excel at making both large, family dome and cabin camping tents to lightweight 2-person tents for backpacking. A popular 3 room family tent by Wenzel is the Wenzel Sycamore 3 room Family Dome Tent. It's extra large measuring 18' x 10' x 74" in size. This Wenzel model can be 3 private rooms or 1 large room with the 2 removable hanging room divider curtains. As with other brand outdoor dwellings, there are gear lofts for added storage of small personal items.
Another great Wenzel cabin tent for the family mentioned above is the Wenzel Great Basin. Setup is quick and easy. The large size allows room for more people and extra gear storage. Along with 2 doors and room dividers, the Great Basin comes with 2 zippered side wall windows to create greater airflow to keep you cool on those warm summer days and nights. Other features include a rear vent for added ventilation and a nylon taffeta floor. The great thing is that you get all this at 3.4 lbs.
Like many tents, there are some complaints. These include leaking tents with seams that needed to be sealed again. Also, some have commented on the rain fly on several models being too small for the tent. Additionally, there have been reports of rips and tears in the tent material that happened while setting up as instructed. Wenzel tents are backed by a 1o year warranty, but users have noted that the warranty excludes many things that may make the warranty useless in the end. Really, like any product, your mileage and experiences will vary.
In the end, if you're looking for an affordable tent to get started in the world of camping, you should definitely not overlook Wenzel tents. Their selection of small and large camping tents is as complete as other camping brands on the market today. Used to make sure the saddle is correctly attached to the horses back, the girth sits around 10 cm behind the horses' front legs. There are a number of types of girth and styles online in the Anything Equine store. They are used for many different disciplines, as described below.
Balding Girths
Made from leather and cut into 3 strips.
Atherstone Girths
Shaped leather with a stronger strip of leather along the centre.
Dressage Girths
Also called a 'Lonsdale' girth. Not as long as other girths and used primarily with dressage saddles. The long billets on dressage saddles allow this girth to be fitted without the buckles interfering with the rider's leg aids. They can be made from leather, strong cotton or padded cotton and in Balding or Atherstone styles.
Unshaped Girths
Can be made from padded cotton or flat heavy cotton, both with webbing reinforcements, or they can also be made from leather.
Over girths
Mostly used when racing. Overgirths are used in addition to a regular girth to provide additional saddle security and are worn around the belly of the horse and across the seat of the saddle.
Stud Guards / Jumping Girths
These are commonly used when show jumping or eventing, they have a large protective pad that sits under the horse's belly, preventing studs or horse shoes from striking the horse's underside as they tuck their front legs up and under when jumping.
Tips
When choosing a girth it is essential that the correct size is chosen, for the horses comfort and for the rider's safety. The girth should spread even pressure across the belly of the horse. The measurement should be taken using a flexible measuring tape from the middle hole of one of the billets on your saddle, under the horse's belly in the position where the girth will sit, then to the middle hole of a billet on the opposite side.

Do you have to start horse riding when you are young to be good?
I started horse riding at when I was 18 and have been doing it for about a year now.I really wish I had started when I was younger.Does starting later disadvantage you in anyway?
No it doesn't. I coach people of all ages ( from 6 - 60) and can say that it makes a difference. I have had both younger and older riders that show a lot of talent and some of them are even competing in showjumping and dressage. All you need is hard work, a good coach, a good horse of course and a goal to strive to. My freind started riding when he was 30 and today he rides for his country competing on an international level in showjumping. My advice is to read up on horses as much as possible, attend any seminars that you can. A lot can be learned by observing so watch when somebody is training so try to pull out as much useful info as you can. Do not think that starting at an early age is such an advantage, a child doesn't absorb so much technical knowledge as an older rider, you can already understand the importance of a lot of terms used by your coach, while a child still has to learn those things. So there you go, aim high and good luck!
P.S. Try to organise a small group of people with the same level of riding and get in contact with your national equestrian federation to see if there are possibilities to have a pro coach hold a 3-4 day coaching session, with classroom lessons and riding lessons. We do it very often, we all split the costs of organizing such a thing and our federation is happy to help. This is a very good way to improve your riding and you will see different mehods of training. Who knows? Maybe they chose you to help them on further courses.
