PAINTBALL: Should i spraypaint the lid of the hopper on my Paintball Gun black?

i mainly play woodsball or urban ball or something in between woodsball and speedball. the lid is clear right now. should i spray paint it black?

You might want to keep the somewhat translucent lid as it is. It makes it a little bit easier to see how much paint you have left and then remember to top off before a charge.

what airsoft gun pistol gases are the best?

I am looking at bying an airsoft gun (pistol) and i want to know what is hfc134a, green gas, top gas, ect... which is the best what are the other names are some the same... all info helps
also any recomended airsoft pistols that work well and last long and dont break???

Don't forget CO2

I have a CO2 powered KWC SW40F GBB pistol; very nice

with co2, as opposed to green/red/top gas, HFC...

Pros:
-just screw a powerlet in the mag, no messy filling up
-buy powerlets at walmart, etc
-not as vulnerable to the cold, though still perform badly in a chilly environment
-more efficient, i get 100+ shots out of 1 powerlet

Cons:
-no lube in the co2 powerlets (some brands do, though)
-sometimes, WAY overpowered; my sigma shoots 410 FPS with a .25 pellet, so i cannot use it in games...i will need to buy a cheap AEG for a sidearm, now...
-magazines are extended to house the co2, and thus look like automatic pistol mags. some people do not like this, though i do...

Airsoft Guns

Children are finding out about airsoft guns and are wanting them. They watch the airsoft military games on Youtube or TV, see pictures in magazines. For whatever reason, realistic looking guns really attract young boys in particular. But use caution when considering purchasing an airsoft weapon for a child. It is a toy, but it can be a dangerous one.

Never give a young child any kind of gun that uses any kind of ammunition unless you are sure the child is responsible and will never put anyone in danger with the gun.

These weapons are so realistic that they may be mistaken for the real thing if exposed in public. You should always supervise a child when using an airsoft gun and never allow it to be taken to school or into any public place. Your child could be hurt or even killed if the weapon is mistaken for a real gun.

Airsoft guns shoot plastic pellets which can be dangerous if shot at close range but won't do any serious damage if shot from beyond a distance of 10 ft. However, the one vulnerable part of the body that can potentially be damaged from any distance is the eye. Never, whether the user is a child or an adult, shoot at anyone who is not wearing goggles or a face protector. Eyeglasses or sunglasses are not considered appropriate eye protection because they can break. Neither are military type sun/wind/dust goggles, ski or shop goggles. The correct protection for your eyes when around air soft weapons is either Paintball Goggles or eye goggles rated at ANSI Z87.1

Your eyes are important to protect. Once you lose one, it's gone forever. It is definitely worth spending a little extra on high quality goggles rather than lose your sight forever. You may already be playing airsoft with friends and have never had an accident and assume you never will. Remember, it only takes one wrong shot to an unprotected or wrongly protected eye to lose that eye. One time! You could have played for years with no accident. Don't get complacent. It only takes one mishap.

Paintball face masks are good protection for your entire face as well and there are several different types of goggles from Bolle tactical goggles to Wiley X high-quality eyewear.

Airsoft shooting speeds go from 250-350 ft. per second but can be modified to travel up to 400. Usually speeds higher than that are not allowed in a game and should not be fired at close range because of safety issues.

Any airsoft weapon should be handled like a real firearm. Accidentally shooting at close range can cause severe damage including broken teeth, damaged eyes or other body parts.

When carrying your air soft gun to or from a tactical game, keep it in a Gun Case. This will protect the gun and protect you from being mistaken as an armed threat. It is also the only legal transportation method in many states.

Airsoft is actually a safe sport as long as everyone observes and follows the rules. Make sure the teams on the playing field have strict rules concerning safety. Airsoft is safe. It's fun. It's challenging. So grab your goggles, your military wear and your airsoft weapon of choice and go have a safe, fun, challenging day in the field or in the woods. Be safe. Be smart.

How to travel international with airsoft guns ?

How do i take it through the airport ?

Firstly, find out whether they're legal there and whether anyone can import them - I can't help there, I haven't got a clue.

The check with your airline well in advance to make sure they allow them to be carried (most do) and what procedures they want you to follow. You'll have to put them with your checked luggage and probably in a hard case. you'll also have to declare them at check in.

Don't just turn up at the airport and try to carry them on or check them without declaring them as it'll only land you in trouble and cause you delays.

Is it legal to carry a concealed pistol in NZ if you have a standard firearms licence?

Is it legal to carry a concealed pistol/ a pistol in holster in NZ if you have a standard firearms licence and is a civilian?

You are not allowed to own or possess a pistol with a standard firearms licence in New Zealand. You may own a pistol if you obtain a "B" endorcement on your firearms licence which requires more stringent vetting, complete safety courses, improved security measures, membership to a Pistol New Zealand affiliated pistol club and an annual minimum attendance at a pistol club. The sole reason for getting your "B" endorcement is competition shooting, thus there is no reason to be wearing a pistol in a holster off a sanctioned range.

You may also own a pistol if you hold a "C" endorcement, that for collectors, though you are not to fire them. "C" endorcements maybe applied for collecting, museum staff etc, theatrical (may fire blanks when movie making etc) purposes. Basically the same more stringent background checks, referees, interviews with police representatives and security measures required of a "B" endorced individual apply for "C" endorcement applicants.

Holders of a "D" or dealers endorcement may also own pistols.

Legally you may only transport a pistol to a range/gunsmith/gun shop etc, and it must be in a stout lockable container. Away trips to competitions and the like require a permit to carry obtained from your local Arms Officer.

Is is possible to scope an M4A3 and if so, will the front sight post be in the way?

I want to buy an m4a3 but was wondering if i could put a scope on it. I know you can take off the carry handle, but can you put a scope where the carry handle is? Also, if you can scope it, is the front sight post to high to see over?

Yes you can scope it. The front sight post will be slightly visible with a 4X scope but wont be bothersome. The more magnification the less visible it will be. Less magnification more visible. Distance from the front of the scope to the sight will make a difference also.

What magnification should you choose for bird watching binoculars? It all depends on your needs as a bird watcher and what type of birding you mostly will be doing. Let us review some magnification basics.

When you start shopping for bird watching binoculars, you will first notice that they come in different sizes. They will be designated by two numbers such as 8x42. The first number is the magnification or how many times closer the bird you are watching will appear through your binoculars. So in the 8x42 pair, a bird will appear eight times closer than with your naked eye.

The first obvious response from beginning birders when shopping for birding binoculars is to get a pair with the highest magnification. Why would I get a lower magnification when I can see the bird that much closer with a higher power binocular? This is bird watching not astronomy star gazing that is why.

As a good rule of thumb, you do not want to buy a pair of binoculars for bird watching over a magnification of ten. If you need more magnification, then consider getting a bird watching spotting scope with a tripod or window mount. Anything above 10x in a binocular will be too difficult to use for bird watching for several reasons.

The higher the magnification in a binocular, the smaller the field of view will be. This makes it more challenging to spot moving birds. The binoculars will also be heavier, making it more difficult to hold steady while viewing. Any shaking in your hands will be magnified that much more as you view through the binoculars. In addition, higher magnification binoculars allow less light to enter the lens, so the image will not be as bright as in lower powered binoculars.

You can choose the level of magnification you want based on the type of birding you mostly do. If you do a lot of birding in forested areas, looking for small active songbirds like warblers, then you will want a larger field of view with less magnification. This way it will be easier to spot the birds and follow them with your binoculars as they move around.

If most of your bird watching is done in open areas, such as hawk migration routes, on open water or open wetlands, then you can get away with a higher magnification since birds are easier to locate in open habitats and wide open spaces. Is it possible to mount a scope on this airsoft gun?

I am very interested in buying the Dboys Kar 98k, but do not know if it can mount sniper scopes or other scopes.

I only found one scope mount for it: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/rwa-2x20-scope-with-mount-for-marushin-98k.html

However, a word of advice: don't get the Dboys Kar 98k, especially if you plan on skirmishing with it. Honestly, this rifle is crap; the shells are to easy to lose and the fps is too inconsistent, especially for a spring rifle. On mine, the bbs would fly straight for 30ft then drop straight down; even my big5 spring pistol was better than this. The gun requires severe modification to actually be skirmishable.

Sorry for raining on you parade, but I wanted you to know this before you buy it; many people buy it and replace the internals to make it skirmishable. I sold mine to a collector, and it now hangs on his wall, where this rifle belongs.

Of course, there is no doubt about spending your income on cases that would protect your weapons that you may own as part of your interests or for a matter of security. But the real question that immediately comes up is how much you should spend on these gun covers? It is not a question for those who collect these weapons out of pure passion. They don't think twice on investing their hard earned income on gun cases that are strong enough to tolerate any kind of hazard. But there are many rifle or pistol owners who clearly look for a case that is not too expensive but just sufficient to protect their weapon against normal hazards.

While choosing a Gun Case, it is obvious to choose one that can fulfill the main purpose - i.e. protecting the weapon. But how far you should go on investing is something we can educate ourselves here. It would be a sheer wastage of money to spend more on a case than on the gun itself! And it is definitely not advisable to purchase a cheap gun case that can hardly serve its main motive. Thus, one must consider all the factors while purchasing a gun case - the budget, the type of gun owned and the usage etc.

If the gun is not too costly, it is recommended to purchase a gun case that is not too expensive either. In market, we will find a large variety of gun cases. However, most of them are not at affordable prices, rather very expensive and not easy to maintain. Metal gun cases ranges above $25. That sometimes may not be of any worth.

On the other hand, there are various forms of homemade cases that are cheap and also easily available. They are also very easy to make and handle. Unfortunately, most of us don't really know that these are efficient enough, if properly selected. A cheap case may not always mean a wrong decision. Sometimes, properly made gun socks or cases can work well in keeping the guns like rifles and pistols safe. Some of the ways of obtaining a cheap gun case are:

1. DIY (Do It Yourself) Method: You can even make one of these at your home. Just by taking your old denim jackets or jeans that have stimulated sheepskin lining can easily be stitched into a gun sock. It is feasible and presentable at the same time.

2. Conversion Method: Some people also use cases of Violin and other abandoned wooden and plastic boxes to secure their weapons in it. This is a great way to use the household items effectively yet it doesn't require much spending.

3. Local Auctions: Usually the local auctions also have such items that can be yours at a considerably low amount.

4. Tailored Method: You can also get many of such cases made at workshops like Condor where professionals can make them at very low rate. Silicon and plastic gun cases are usually made at such workshops for as cheap as for $6. You can also purchase a Custom Made bag too.

5. Retail Shops: Who says cheap gun cases are not available in market? Retail Stores like Wal-Mart, Outdoor World, Optic Planet has various types of ready made cases that cost as low as $10.

Hence, it is safe to say that one does not need to spend too much out of his pocket in order to safeguard his firearms. Even though, branded expensive cases may have a great quality, there is no doubt that cheap gun cases can also be a great investment altogether. If done wisely, it may not just be cost effective but also a good guard for your collected weapons.

Is there a Laser Grip that will fit my Glock 21? Some websites say the LG617 will and somewebsites say it wont?

The LG-617 will NOT fit the Glock Model 21 .45 auto due to the wider grip of that handgun according to Crimson Trace.

I own a Glock Model 20 and a Model 29, both in 10mm and was looking for the same Laser Sight for my handguns.

The LG-617 is for Glock models that have a grip width of 1.18". Both of our handguns have a grip width of 1.27".

I sent an email to Crimson Trace and was told by them that their model LG-629 will fit Glock models 20, 21, 29 and 30. That is the model that we apparently need to get.

Rifle Sling

There are two categories constituting the top deer hunting rifles in North America. The first category consists of the wood and brush country rifles and the second category belongs to the long range deer rifles. Take a look at some of the descriptions between them.

Woods and brush rifles are actually made for medium hunting game. Usually, the average shot for these rifles are less than a hundred yards and it reaches up to two hundred for the maximum range. They have twenty to twenty-two inches barrel, depending on their caliber. The hunting weight of woods rifle runs from 7.5-8.0 lbs, including the mounted scope, the sling, and the full magazine. They are capable of auto-loading, so they are great when you need a secondary shot for your target. They are also designed for offhand or standing use since a clear view of the target is usually blocked by the underbrush from a flat position. Its stocks can be made of plastic, laminated wood, genuine walnut, or hardwood like maple. Woods rifles that are able to put three bullets into 2 minutes of angle from a cold barrel are considered good rifles when you talk about intrinsic accuracy. The cartridge for a woods rifle is required to launch a bullet with a sectional density of 0.255 at a velocity of 200-2500 feet per second for good killing power. The caliber should also be 0.257 inches or larger.

Long range deer rifles are handy, lightweight choices for deer hunting. They can reach up to three hundred yards of shooting range under normal conditions. From either a standing or sitting position, these deer hunting rifles can shoot at a six-inch bull's eye at one hundred, two hundred, or three hundred yards. The shooter must keep in mind though, that he must aim to target not more than thirty seconds for each shot. These rifles have a barrel measuring not more than twenty-four inches, and their standard calibers range from six mm to seven mm. Most shooters now prefer shooting with long range rifles at a sitting position since these rifles are not so reliable when you shoot from a standing position. This especially happens when you have more than a hundred-yard shooting range.

There are quite a number of brands for rifles that are available in North America. Some of these are Remington, Sako, Finnlight, Rugar, and Weatherby. These give high velocity cartridges that are necessary for the rifle's impressive performance. However, among these brands, Remington and Weatherby were reported to be the best sellers when it comes to hunting rifles. Folks say they are the best in terms of trajectory and high-energy shooting experience. Yet between the two, Weatherby seems more affordable when you speak of the price.

Attaching a sling to a rifle?

I have an older .222 that was handed down to me from my grandfather. Great gun, but it doesn't have a shoulder sling, nor does it have the metal eyelits to attach one to. Can I add a sling without permanently harming the rifle? It has a wood stock.

Tex if you want to keep the stock original there are some slip on slings available on the market. Check out Midway and Cheaper Than Dirt. If your looking to have the capabilities to put a sling on and make sure it doesn't slide around then you should add some mounting post. This can be done at home and won't take away alot of value from the rifle. Depending on the type you want all you'll need to do is place the rifle in a fixture to secure it. A vise with a towel or a couple of C clamps with pads will do. Pre drill your hole and screw in the mounting post. If your not comfortable doing this you can have it done for $20- $35 dollars at most gun shops plus the cost of the mounting post. Good luck.
